Verbs that require an –“ing” form in the complement

Remember that the following verbs require an “ing” for a verb in the complement.

1.     Admit 2. Appreciate 3. Avoid 4. Complete 5. Consider 6. Delay

7. Deny 8. Discuss 9. Enjoy 10. Finish 11. Keep

12. Mention 13. Miss14. Postpone 15. Practice16. Quit

17. Recall 18. Recommend 19. Regret 20. Risk21. Stop

22. Suggest 23. Tolerate 24. Understand

 

Example:  I miss watching the football match between Argentina and Brazil.

 

NOTE:  Avoid using an- infinitive after the verbs listed.
